First bit of nonsense

Introductions are never fun, nor are they easy, at least for me they're not.

With that in mind, and assuming that anyone who reads this, probably already knows of me from my other blogs, I'm gonna skip the " about me" part, and just do a quick rundown of what one might expect to see on here in the future. [Note: If you're reading this in the distant future, I'm assuming that you've read some other posts on here and already have a pretty good sense of what I'm about; so you should be covered, too!]

The idea for this blog has been a long time in the making. I've got so many things that I'd like to talk about, but don't want to have to try and tie them in to sports, or sports cards -- which is what my other two blogs are primarily about. I guess then, that'll be good place to start. Just about the only two things you won't ever see covered on here will be sports and trading cards. There may be an occasional book on sports shown as part of a larger book haul, but if I feel like discussing said book in any sort of depth, I will do so elsewhere.

As for what one can expect to see on here in the coming months/years, well, probably a little bit of everything; after all I do have many interests. There will be plenty of "collectible" talk, that's kind of a given with me, but I do intend for this blog to be so much more than that...

Music! Music is a big part of my daily life (as it is for many others), and is another subject that I've longed to talk about more (a lot more), but again, didn't want to have to try and tie it in to sports, or sports cards.

One of my favorite things to do is to just wander aimlessly through the woods, or down a waterway. It provides me with an escape from the world at large, which is enough on it's own, but I also tend to find a lot of interesting objects while out there wandering. I mentioned in a post some years ago, that when I was first looking into starting up a blog, I was thinking that it would be one that was dedicated solely to those things that I find in the woods (and sometimes alongside the road). I never did get that blog off the ground, but do plan on featuring such items on here from time to time.

Given where I live, in a fairly rural area, I encounter a number of interesting animals/insects on a fairly regular basis, especially during the summer. Expect to see photos from some of said encounters.

I had been planning on doing a little bit of traveling this summer, mostly in-state, and would've likely written some recaps of those trips. Unfortunately, the recent stupid-high gas prices have temporarily halted those plans. If things change (I don't think they will), and the prices come back down to earth some, I will try to get somewhere, and will be posting about it if I do. Some local spots may be an option as well, at least I wouldn't have to spend a small fortune to get there.

Past life stories will be a reoccurring them around here too. That's stories from my past by the way, not stories about past lives. Although, if I ever find out that I was someone of note in a past life, I can guarantee you that you'll be hearing about it... a lot! :)

Not many people know that I enjoy crafting, and drawing. I'm pretty self-conscious about completed projects when it comes to those things, and never show them online. I'd like to think that maybe I could force myself to get past that at some point, and maybe post a few things here. No guarantees on this one though.

Pop culture, or at least old pop culture, will be a common blog topic for me. I've completely given up caring about current happenings, but old, and often, irrelevant pop culture, is still among my favorite things to read/talk about.

I've got multiple folders worth of old newspaper articles that I've come across, and saved, while doing sports related research (the articles aren't sports related), and have been patiently waiting for a place where I could talk about those. Now that I have just such a place, look out!

Oh, and if you know me from my current main blog (that'll be changing soon), then you probably already know that videos, DVD's, records, books, and other assorted items will be a common sight around here as well.

I'm sure that I'm forgetting a few things as I'm typing this, but I think that's enough for the moment. You get the idea. If any of this sounded good, it might be worth your while to stop by occasionally. If not, that's fine too, I'm just as comfortable typing for myself as I am for others.

  1. I think I stumbled upon your new blog before you announced it. Looking forward to the variety of posts here, especially the topics of local animals/insects, road trips, and potentially your art!

    1. Indeed. I hadn't really thought of "announcing" it per se, but now that you've mentioned it, I suppose I should. And thank you, I don't expect this one to be of much interest to most of the card folks, but maybe a few intrepid souls will be willing to give it a go.

  5. Looking forward to this, I enjoy your non-cards posts. I'm especially interested in the objects you find. Are there other blogs dedicated to that?

    1. I appreciate the kind words, Bo. As for the other blogs, I really don't know. I would have to think that there's been a few dedicated to bottle hunting and metal detecting, which would be similar, but I've never looked to see if there's "Hey, look what I found while hiking" blog.

Catching up (and other random musings): Part 2

You'd never know it, but I had intended to send this post out into the world about a week after the last one. Obviously that didn't ...
